"The rules of warhammer fantasy battle and 40k are tournament rules sets. This makes games more about min/ maxing rather than story driven games."
Oh god no Ian. GW rules are wooly, and loose. Entirely not suited for tournaments. THATS why the horr…
There is a scarborough group I set up on facebook george. Given 90% of the vanguard players never read this forum, it might be a better bet.
Its listed as "Scarborough Bushiroad CCG Group" find it and request adding. Myself or Lee will get you adde…
I believe there are two players at the club? Ian and James. (Was there anyone else?)
There are about six at my store. I'm sure I can help you arrange a game with one of them if you so wished.
That was actually aimed at malcolm, but I'm sure I can find time for a game with you too.
Monday is my day off and I shall be painting rooms. So no good there.
Patriot Leeds. Run by Mark Hammond (who used to live in pickering).
A bit CCG heavy, but hes got a lot of boardgames, and has started on various mini-ranges after asking me some questions.
Hull has... something? But god knows what.
In the politest possible way:
Willis - Shut up.
Malcolm - Also Shut up.
Arguing like this doesn't help anyone. Voice your opinions on the subject politely and calmly. Stick to the topic of WHY things should/shouldnt change. Not "who is wrong." An…
This is why I have always been an advocate of providing tables and scenery and nothing more. Once the club has that, (and it must be close by now?) dropping subs, and doing a yearly collection for bills would make much more sense I think.
I suspect the issue is that the only way to give CCG players back their subs is with tournaments, and that people disagree on who gets what proportion.
Scrapping fees and charging only for the tournaments, so that they are paid for by the people wh…
If you're looking for singles, May I recommend both Patriot Games shops. (Sheffield and Leeds). Each specialises in different singles collections, they are reliable, and they're good old fashioned brick and mortar stores (with a webstore).
If you'r…
Luckily I said DRAFT. And gave boosters as an example of a draft pool.
It is not a bad idea to draft from a preopened pool of cards.
As for the guys who turned up to win your tournament. Beyond giving you a simple "I told you it would happen", I d…
The point of draft is exactly that.
You take a regular card pool. (Ie. Boosters). You draft, and try to make a strong deck.
It promotes the skill of deckbuilding and playing said deck, over the skill of owning the strongest deck. Something which s…
The shop stocks the range of bolt action, and could do you a good deal on warlords minis if you're interested.
We also have about 5 people about with 28mm WW2 armies.
Heres the thing:
You put prizes in.
Prizes mean that *someone* will be being competitive. Because they want the prizes.
If you put in your precautions, nothing stops me from coming to take your prizes, because I'm a member. Will you ban me as we…
If only it were as pretty as planetfall... I love the planetfall models.
Still. I might be tempted to try it out with you malcolm, but I'd want the Shaltari. They're the only ones I really like the look of at all.
Announce you're moving into the chinese market and will be paying tax. Announce someones ripping you off, so you'll be backing out. Watch those people vanish from the face of the earth...
You feel one of the most repressive and controling goverments in the first world wouldnt act on things? If you can adequately bring it to their attention, im sure theyd act.
You stop it by contacting their goverment, who kicks their door through at 1.00 am and siezes everything. Its been done before.
If you can get me a link or a copy of the email, ill pass it to gw legal. I talk to them a worrying ammount.
9th Edition was Mid 2006. That probably means Kamigawa isnt legal, but Ravnica is.
Without wanting to sound rude, what on earth is a league system with a knockout for quarters?
With both things you need to be VERY clear on what you mean. Having ac…
