I'm tempted to pick up a starter and rulebook, not sure which faction though, they all look so nice. Also if you checkout the download section you cash snag a ton of scenery to print at home so no need to buy it ( though £30 for enough scenery for a 6x4 seems reasonable imo).
Possibly. I can't say I know enough about 10mm games to make the comparison, but it's still cheaper to start than the likes of 40k and the sculpts do seem to be of a fairly high quality compared to the few 10mm ranges I've seen.
For comparison, www.pendraken.co.uk sells only 10mm stuff. Their tanks are mostly £2.75 each, and infantry are about £4 for 30. Whereas Dropzone has 30 infantry for £12, so a bit pricey...
Good article :-) Not sure why you only need to buy dice if you are playing Epic though... I always like to use "time spent" as my common denominator when comparing the prices for pretty much anything recreational. I've never bought anything for 40k for example that required special rules to use i.e. FW units or APOC only units because I don't see myself using them all that much. I also haven't bought into the Infinity/Malifaux stuff yet because I don't see enough people playing it and therefore am not convinced I would spend much time using the figures and rules I'd need to buy.
So yeah, "time spent" is what it's all about if you ask me ;-)
the Post Humans do look very cool. I also like the United Colonies, 'cept for their main battle tank, what's up with that turret? It's a pole on a stick...
Yeah, I can see how they work. Just looks wrong to me. I'm more tempted by that UCM tank destroyer, use it as an assault gun. Or the heavy tank, its gun arrangement looks better, even if it is still on a stick...
For less than the price of a single player starter army ( oddly) you get 2 starter sets and a bunch of other goodies to get you started. At £60 I'm tempted to get one myself.
I might be tempted to go in for £20 on a couple of boxes. I already have the rules and more than enough scenery so it's just the faction and related datasheet I'd want.
The faction is called The Resistance. Reminds me of the Terminator and Fallen Skies. Be interesting to see what they use as dropships as ground vehicles are pretty slow.

Still. I might be tempted to try it out with you malcolm, but I'd want the Shaltari. They're the only ones I really like the look of at all.
I am definitely getting a faction, most probably Post Humans or Scourge.
