We have been toying with the idea of using AOA rules for 40k. Anyone up for playtesting this? As a taster here's a couple of Marines....
Space Marine with Bolter:
V.P- 62
Move- 8 (ie can move 8 or move 4 and fire)
Wounds- 2
Armour- 4
Psy- 3 (instead of magic resistance)
Morale- 9 fearless
Melee 1/3 str(1)
Missile- Bolter (24") 1/3 str (1
Terminator with Storm Bolter & Power Fist
VP- 105
Move- 8
Wounds- 2
Armour- 5
Psy- 3
Morale- 9 Fearless
Melee- 1/3 str (4) Power Weapon (magical), Last Strike
Missile- Storm Bolter 2/3 str (1)
A terminator with lightning claws is only 54 points though, because it can't shoot, and a guardsman is 21 points.

What's cool about the ruleset is that tanks could be done like monsters, with armours reaching as high as 8 or 9.

He had initially moved to a d12 system,but has gone back to d6s,plus changed a few other things.I will try to stay with the original rules,only changing things as it becomes apparent that they need changing.So far most stuff doesn't need changing at all.
Other than rough riders,shining spears and maybe grey knights with halberds,who would use the long weapon ability?Might drop that.
Also, I feel templars on bikes should be allowed lances
any excuse to get my orks/SW's on the field
Space marine list done.Some things I'm not sure about but we'll have to see how it works out.
Vehicles like walkers/dreds seem fine,but tanks seemed a little weak.Maybe bump their skill a little. Facing and fire arcs are something else,there's no rules for that at all yet.
