The GK vs Chaos thing would be cool but there's 2 reasons it wouldn't work.
First not everyone has those armies, second not everyone knows the rules for 6th ed. Let alone for those 2 specific armies.
It would be a nightmare for those that do as all their time would be spent walking people through unit rules etc. I think this is more feasible as an arranged game in-house and just let people bring what they know to WHW, you never know Chaos might still make an appearance.
You will still get to fight against daemons if someone wants to bring them and you bring your grey knights, although i'm pretty sure they'll want to be at the other end of the table to you since Grey knights are kind of based around beating daemons to mush. But like malcom said, most people don't have those armies so it would make for a rather small game.
I can give you a rundown of the GK vs. Demons game if you like :P
GKs cast warpquake. Half the daemon armys first wave explodes on contact with the floor on turn 1. The rest are about 24 inches away and trying to assault. They get shot to death. Good game.
Its the single least fun matchup going in 40k right now I think. A strong army vs. a weak army, and the strong army has specific powers for blowing up the weak one. Blergh.
Go with your imperium vs. Xenos OR, if you want to mix it up, you could do an imperial friendly faction vs. A chaos friendly faction.
Eg. Imperial, Eldar Tau, vs. Chaos, Daemons, Orks.
Theres lots of options GK vs. Demon isnt one of them :P
I have to agree with John on this one, GK do destroy Daemons when they solely play eachother.
I like the idea of Imperium, Eldar and Tau, vs. Chaos, Daemons and Orks though. Makes for a more interesting matchup seen as Tau are Xenos, yet they are more likely to ally with Space marines than Chaos (even if only slightly according to that stupid table in the rulebook!)
I suppose the matchup will be decided once we know which armies people are bringing.
yes the four table are next to each other . If we don't have a copy of the apocalypse rules we will just be playing a large game of 40k. The only difference is it allows people who have a Baneblade or a Stompa to use them for once.
when you next at club Mark, you need to buy your ticket and i'll have about 5k points of Space marines and Tau, in their famous alliance forged at the second Battle on The Beach!
i'd love to be able to buy my ticket, but i'm un able to be at club next until after the even, i'm going to be in scarborough on monday daytime to maybe get one off simon or who ever else i can get one off, but its rather hard as i work so much, is there any way i can pay on the day of the trip, as i can not get to the actual club until then...?
Well i have a huge smile!. Having kept in touch via e-mail with Dan Harden (staff writer of White Dwarf magazine and the guy who writes the White Dwarf blog on the website (http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/wnt/blog.jsp?pid=7100016).
He says, although it is his day off he should be popping in for an hour or so to take some piccies of the event and he also said he will come over for a chat with us and to take some piccies of our game and models! If people bring their best painted models with them to play in the game he might stick them up on the blog for the whole world to see!
So if you want your once in a lifetime chance to talk to a writer of White Dwarf and maybe get your army put up on their blog (it does happen seen it a few times) c'mon down to Warhammer World with us!
Of course! I didn't know she played anything. Just make her aware we'll be there for 5/6 hours and there isnt all that much to do if you aren't playing some sort of board/card/tabletop game. But still, the more the merrier!
